Follow the steps below for correct and problem free installation of your scanner, scanner drivers and utilities.


Step 1. Install WIDEsystem (including scanner drivers)

 

Important:

Iinstall WIDEsystem before you connect the scanner or install any scanner software applications.

 

Your scanner drivers are automatically installed with WIDEsystem and your PC will then be fully prepared to detect and setup the newly connected scanner device.

Installing from a CD-ROM

  1. Start up the WIDEsystem TOOLS CD-ROM by inserting the CD-ROM into your PC. Normally the setup program interface will start automatically. If it does not, perform the following steps to activate it.
  2. Click the Start button on the Taskbar and choose Run from the menu.
  3. Type D:\setup in the Command Line Box (where D: represents the name of your CD-ROM drive).
  4. Choose the OK button.
  5. To install WIDEsystem, click on the option from main menu or run the setup.exe program directly from the WIDEsystem (ws) folder on the CD-ROM. Follow the instructions that appear on your screen.

Installing from the web or upgrade WIDEsystem driver from web

  1. Download the WIDEsystem version from the manufactor's website.
  2. Start the .exe file and follow the instructions on your screen.

Installation complete

When WIDEsystem is installed the WIDEsystem icon (scanner) will be added to the Windows System Tray on your screen.

This means you have completed installation of the scanner driver and are ready to install your scanner and scanner applications (see below).


Step 2. Install the Scanner

With WIDEsystem successfully installed, you are ready to install your scanner. Please refer to the your scanner model’s operators guide found on the WIDEsystem TOOLS CD-ROM or the support website's "Manuals" area for instructions on connecting the scanner to a USB, IEEE 1394 (FireWire) or SCSI port. Note that when using SCSI, you should connect the scanner with the PC powered off.

Windows will detect the new scanner device and find the drivers installed after you installed WIDEsystem. Follow the instructions on your screen. Be sure to Click “Yes” to continue installation if/when presented with the “Digital Signature Not Found” dialog.


Step 3. Install and run Scanner Maintenance

Installing from CD-ROM - Click the Install Scanner Maintenance button on the CD-ROM’s main menu and follow the instructions on your screen.

Download Scanner Maintenance from the web or upgrade fro web - Download the software component and run the installation file (.exe).

Accept the option to run “Scanner Maintenance Now” and follow the maintenance instructions to tune your scanner for optimal performance.

NOTE: Warm-up time - To ensure correct maintenance results, the scanner should be turned on for 1 hour before running the maintenance programs.


Step 4. Install additional scanner software applications

Install your compatible scanning applications if you have them. Follow the installation instructions that came with the applications.


 

Important Note:

WIDEsystem must always be installed before any of the applications - Scanner Maintenance, scanning applications and firmware downloads can be used with the scanner.
